Miele intends to develop a second production site for washing machines. The new plant in Poland is expected to go into operation in 2020 and have a capacity of 250,000 machines.
Miele says that the company‘s Gütersloh site is already producing at high capacity. In the 2016/17 financial year, Miele will presumably sell more than 900,000 washing machines, with a rising trend.
“Our neighbor to the east has a good infrastructure and offers significant logistical advantages over more distant options,” says Dr. Stefan Breit, Managing Director Technology.
To handle higher quantities in the short term, the Gütersloh plant will also need modernization and expansion to increase its capacity. In the long term, we anticipate that personnel needs will fall below today’s numbers. However, this should be able to be regulated by natural fluctuation.
