Werner & Mertz, manufacturer of comprehensively sustainable cleaning solutions, received the prestigious Cradle to Cradle Products Innovator Award for its Green Care Professional and ‘Frosch’ brands. The award is bestowed by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, a non-profit organization based in San Francisco, USA, to corporations in the cleaning industry who manufacture their products in a closed loop according to the Cradle to Cradle principle for maximum sustainability and are thus pioneers to their peers.
“The international recognition that comes with this award validates our own high quality standards and our strong commitment to ever greater sustainability in professional cleaning,” said Frank Vancraeyveld, CEO of Werner & Mertz Professional/tana-Chemie, at the awards ceremony in New York. Products of Werner & Mertz’s Green Care Professional range for commercial users have been Cradle to Cradle certified since 2013. To date, 18 of the brand’s products have obtained the Gold certification. The Cradle to Cradle approach stands in contrast to the well-known linear production principle of ‘cradle to grave.’ In the latter system, materials often flow without conscious consideration given to the long-term protection of natural resources from their sourcing to their disposal.
