3M takes over Scott Safety from Johnson Controls

The American multi-technology company 3M has concluded a two billion US-dollar contract with ­Johnson Controls for the acquisition of Scott Safety. The ­transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2017. Scott ­Safety manufactures compressed air breathing apparatuses, gas and fire detectors as well as other ­products that complement 3M’s range of offers in the personal protective equipment sector.

Scott Safety (Monroe/North ­Carolina) has some 1,500 employees worldwide. In 2016, the company earned a turnover of approximately 570 million US ­dollars. The Personal Safety division of 3M, which belongs to the Safety and Graphics Business Group of the corporation, offers breathing and hearing protection products. Its portfolio also includes products for fall protection, reflective materials for warning and protective clothing, welding protection and head, eye and face protection.
