facilitate rapid resoiling nor do they affect the impregnation
that the carpet came with from the factory.
Subsequently, the carpet is spray-extracted or vacuum-rinsed with
clear water using a spray extraction device. Clear water is sprayed
into the flooring under pressure; the loosened dirt is then almost
simultaneously vacuumed into the wastewater tank by a suction
nozzle a few centimeters behind the injection nozzle.
In addition to spray-extraction as a one-step process, various
step methods, so-called combination procedures, are also
used. Combining spray extraction and fiber pad cleaning achieves
good results. First, the textile surface is pre-treated using a
free cleaning solution with a one-disc machine and
fiber pad. Second comes the spray extraction process with clear
water. To shorten the drying time and improve the cleaning effect,
the still damp fiber pile can be treated again with a fresh fiber or
The advantages of this method:
33Good results are achieved even in the case of heavily soiled
33Less soaking than with the shampoo/spray extraction method.
33The function of the factory anti-soiling impregnation is
because no surfactants are used.
33No increased resoiling, also because no surfactants are used.
33No contamination of indoor air, likewise due to the lack of
33Shorter drying times compared to traditional basic cleaning
In the combination method (wet shampooing/spray extraction),
the first step is to shampoo the textile flooring with a carpet
The wet shampooing method was formerly used for basic
cleaning of textile flooring. The resulting foam was vacuumed up
with a wet vacuum cleaner. Today, in contrast, the second step is
almost exclusively spray-extraction with clear water.
Important notes about this method:
33The carpet shampoo is intended to prevent rapid re-soiling by
allowing the residue to dry in crystalline form;
33this affects factory impregnation;
33long drying time/limited use;
33great danger of damage to moisture-sensitive flooring;
33contamination of indoor air during the drying period.
As an alternative to carpet shampooing, this combination
method can also be used on moisture-resistant flooring using a
free cleaner. N
