AN INTERVIEW WITH MARKUS ASCH
The most important event
for innovation and information
In this brief interview, the Chairman of the Professional Association of Cleaning Systems in
the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), Markus Asch, tells us
what trade fair visitors can look forward to at the CMS Berlin 2017 and the WFBSC Congress.
What are the trends and developments in cleaning
machines and equipment that will be presented
and discussed at the CMS 2017?
Markus Asch: The buzzwords are "digitisation" and
"connectivity". The intelligent use of the data of
machines and their work environment result in new
solutions for optimisation of cleaning processes and
ergonomics. With ‚data from the work environment‘,
I mean, for example, information that‘s already present
in the building due to sensor technology and
building automation interfaces, but which hasn‘t
been used much or at all within the scope of facility
management and cleaning processes so far.
Mechanised and, in particular, autonomous cleaning
(the keyword here is "cleaning robots") can become
much more efficient if we exploit all the available
Why should trade visitors not fail to go to the CMS?
Markus Asch: This year, the CMS will become even
more attractive and international as it‘s linked with the
congress of the World Federation of Building Service
Contractors (WFBSC). The 22nd WFBSC Congress will
attract hundreds of people from all over the world. This
means that, in 2017, the CMS will be, by far, the most
important event for innovations and information, for
communication and contacts in our industry.
What are the advantages of holding the fair in Berlin?
Markus Asch: As it‘s located in the heart of Europe
and because it‘s an attractive trade fair location for
the most important European cleaning market in
Germany, Berlin is the best possible location. The
city‘s good accessibility and the favourable situation
regarding hotel capacity sets Berlin apart from other
expo grounds. What‘s more, Berlin is a very attractive
city with loads of sights and leisure opportunities.

Scandic X System
The universal Scandic X telescopic handle can be adjusted
to the desired ergonomic working height. Adjustable from
80 cm to 171 cm, it is also ideal for smaller heights. The
anti-slip rotating ball eases pressure on back and wrists.
The innovative X-Click coupling system can be combined
with the corresponding functional modules from VERMOP
and other main manufacturers. The Scandic X Toolbox
complements the system as the latest component in the
proven Equipe cleaning trolley range. It facilitates space
saving storage of the Scandic X handle and all of its
