The opera Aida
"Amore, sommissione, dolcezza"
– these are the qualities that Giuseppe
Verdi attributed to his title
character Aida. She thus fits seamlessly
into the series of those female
figures of the nineteenth century,
who were less real beings and more
objects of desire and projections of
chauvinistic males, and who inevitably
found their destiny in love.
Aida is also predestined for this fate.

Oper Berlin, Bismarckstr. 35, 10627
Exhibition: The Luther Effect
On the 500th anniversary of the
Reformation, the German Historical

potential for engendering conflict in
the world. 12 April to 5 November,

East are shown – basically, films
whose stories have the potential
to touch people across borders. 20

Müllerstr. 74, 13349 Berlin.

and exploring are all expressly
allowed. 5 May 2017 to 25 February
